Our Mission
UNITAR has joined efforts with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre (ROLACC) to develop capacity building initiatives supporting the fight against corruption. More than 2000 persons from all regions, of different backgrounds, have already accessed these learning initiatives developed to date.
Background
Corruption hinders people’s welfare in all countries - regardless of their stage of development. With this in mind, at the international level, there is a common agreement on the need of suppressing and preventing corruption due to its negative impacts and ripple effects for Human Rights and sustainable development, including participation, equitable distribution of resources, employment, leadership, and decision-making at all levels, among other repercussions.
In order to tackle its root causes and consequences, as well as to find solutions for prevention, accountability, and redress, the impact of mainstreaming knowledge is a powerful tool for transforming the lives of individuals and societies as a whole.
It pursues the change of discriminatory social institutions, laws, cultural norms, and community practices. Therefore, the creation of spaces and initiatives to raise awareness and to build knowledge, like the following ones, represents an opportunity to enhance capabilities towards a culture of learning.
As a contribution to this endeavor, ROLACC and UNITAR have brought together their expertise and practical knowledge to prepare different initiatives focused on Human Rights, Sustainable Development and Digital tools.
