"Mainstreaming the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development"

The e-tutorial provides an in-depth and wide-ranging guidance on how to mainstream the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into each national strategies and policies. It is based on the UNDG Reference Guide "Mainstreaming the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development". Case studies introduce innovative examples of how some countries have begun to develop and use relevant tools, and activities offer an opportunity to gain a better understanding and useful skills. Although this training tool has been primarily designed for government officials and development practitioners, it is also publicly available.

The MOOC on “Introduction to the 2030 Agenda: A New Agenda for a Sustainable World” is designed to improve general awareness about the Agenda and its Goals for policy-makers and the general public, especially youth.

TRAINING TOOLKITS

"Preparing for Action" National Briefing Package

This integrated toolkit has been created by UNITAR together with UNDG and is being used at country level since May 2015. It contains a briefing package designed for use by national governments and can be easily adapted to each national context. The toolkit includes guidance materials for facilitators, which enables national stakeholders to deliver the workshops themselves. UNITAR experts are available for coaching and support if required.  

This training package is available to all and is free of charge thanks to donor support received by UNITAR. It is available in English, French, Spanish, and Russian. The toolkit is to be used for organising national briefings with two main objectives:  (a) to raise awareness among key governments and national stakeholders about the content of the 2030 Agenda and implications for the country-level; (b) to enable countries to begin preliminary discussions on mainstreaming the agenda into each national context, including the initial mapping of the SDGs in the context of existing national plans and strategies, and to reflect on priority-setting, as well as data, monitoring and review requirements.

INVITATION-BASED E-LEARNING COURSES

"Strengthening multi-stakeholder engagement for the implementation and review of the 2030 Agenda into national reviews" - 2nd edition (22 March - 12 May 2017)

This e-learning course is developed jointly by UNITAR’s Capacity for the 2030 Agenda Initiative and UN DESA.

The main objective of this e-learning course is to enhance the knowledge and skills of government officers to put in place institutional arrangements, systems and processes to ensure the participation of key stakeholders in national SDG reviews.

This first edition had as its target audience government officials of the 27 countries that expressed a wish to participate in Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) at HLPF in 2017. This course covers a number of topics, including:

1) Importance of stakeholder engagement for the 2030 Agenda;

2) Different levels of engagement and institutional models for VNRs;

3) Tools to map key national stakeholders, in particular, vulnerable groups;

4) Experiences from “early starters”;

5) Development of long-term strategies for meaningful and continuous stakeholder engagement in the context of the 2030 Agenda.
