Carlos Lopes to speak on the crisis of identities at Estoril Conference on globalization challenges
The municipality of Cascais and the Institute for Strategic and International Studies (IEEI) from Portugal are jointly launching the Estoril Conferences project, a series of high level annual international conferences due to start in May 2009. The Estoril Conferences aim to set up an international platform for an exchange of ideas on the challenges of globalization, with a specific focus on the relationship between the global and local dimensions and on system of multi-level governance to envisage. The first annual conference Global Challenges: Local Answers is taking place from 7 to 9 May 2009.
Carlos Lopes, is invited to speak at the session on “Values, Identities and Markets: is Globalization Governable?” , he is also part of the International Jury that will attribute the annual book prize on the occasion of the Estoril Conferences. Mr. Lopes has recently been appointed a Member of the General Council of the Portuguese Superior Institute for Labor and Business Sciences (ISCTE) and is also a Member of the Science Academy of Lisbon.
