Persistent Organic PollutantsLegislative Development and Infrastructure BuildingOverviewMany countries that are developing National Implementation Plans have identified the development and/or amendment of their national legislation as a priority in order to meet the requirements of the Stockholm Convention. Similarly, enforcement of such legislation, including training needs for those responsible for enforcement, have also been identified as priorities. Upon request, and resources permitting, UNITAR, in cooperation with GEF Implementing Agencies and other partners, assists countries to address legislation-related issues and associated infrastructure building/strengthening. ProjectsUNEP Project: UNITAR is cooperating with UNEP on a GEF Medium-Sized Project, currently under development, aimed at assisting Parties to the Convention with developing the necessary legislative environment to implement the Convention.
