SAICM Application Opportunities

There are a number of ways countries and NGOs can seek UNITAR assistance related to SAICM-related activities related to chemicals and waste management capacity building. The following sections provide a short description of the different options:

Working with UNITAR to develop proposals for the SAICM Quick Start Programme Trust Fund. UNITAR stands ready to assist countries with development of proposals for the Quick Start Programme Trust Fund. To-date, more than 40 countries/entities have received UNITAR assistance for proposal development (for more information, please click here). The deadline for submissions for the next round of funding proposals is 29 August 2008. For more information, please contact UNITAR at cwm@unitar.org.

Working with UNITAR to develop a proposal for a bilateral donor. UNITAR also stands ready to work with countries to approach bilateral donors for support with SAICM related capacity building. A formal letter from a senior responsible official requesting the type of assistance needed can be sent to:
