CIFAL Newcastle is hosted by the University of Newcastle (UON) in Australia serving as a hub for the Asia Pacific region, leveraging UON's disciplinary strengths in areas such as disaster preparedness and reconstruction, sustainable development and urban resilience.
CIFAL Newcastle will also serve as a hub for capacity building in key sustainable development related issues across the Pacific region and in Australia. It will provide training on how to implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the local level.

CIFAL Newcastle Director
Dr. Graham Brewer serves as the Executive Director of CIFAL Newcastle. He is also Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle, and Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Built Environment Research. He is bringing his construction-related expertise in decision-making, innovation, and project management to his role as Director of CIFAL Newcastle.
Graham's background is in Construction Management, dealing with the business side of construction activities. Since undertaking his PhD in 2008, he has specialized in decision-making and innovation. He has expertise and knowledge of sustainable practices in the built environment, disaster preparedness and reconstruction. He is also leading the design and delivery of the UON's graduate programs in these areas.
