CIFAL Quito was inaugurated in 2014 with the objective of strengthening the capacities of local government authorities and civil society leaders in support of sustainable development.  It aims to support local authorities to implement the new Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

The Decentralized Autonomous Government of the  Prefecture of Pichincha (GADPP) was selected as host of the CIFAL as it provides a dynamic environment for the development of innovative projects, the political support of the local leaders and its experience in promoting public-private partnerships and social responsibility.

CIFAL Quito Director

Renata Lasso

Ms. Renata Lasso is the Director of the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Quito. At the same time, she is responsible for the Secretary of Human Development and Environment of the Decentralized Government of the Prefecture of Pichincha (GADPP). She coordinates all initiatives of the Prefecture related to Community Development, Human Mobility, Environment, Risks, Culture, Sports, Digital Inclusion, the GADPP Technological Institute, and health programmes such as the Pichincha’s Mission.  Ms. Lasso is also responsible for policy design in the areas social development with an inclusive and gender approach. She designs advocacy strategies with social organizations on women’s rights, LGBTIs and diverse communities.

Ms. Lasso has ten years of experience in local development and social inclusion, designing, executing, evaluating and monitoring projects for economic and social inclusion particularly for vulnerable groups.  She also has expertise on management of participatory methods and methodologies for social research, and in designing communication strategies for advocacy.

Holds a Master of Agricultural, Economics and Rural Development from the Central University of Ecuador, and Advanced studies in Social Communication and in Local Development from the Catholic University of Lyon - France - CIEDEL.
