A Glossary of Terms for UN Delegates

Multilateral Conferences & Diplomacy
A Glossary of Terms for UN Delegates

The glossary, available in English and in French, targets primarily the newly accredited multilateral delegate who is unfamiliar with the wide array of UN-related terms and abbreviations, although it will no doubt be of equal assistance to other delegates, including scientific and technical experts from capitals, staff of the United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations, and representatives from non-governmental organizations.

Over 700 definitions of terms, abbreviations and acronyms frequently heard at United Nations conferences.

  CD-ROM on UN Documentation

CD-ROM on United Nations Documentation

This CD-ROM is produced by the Multilateral Diplomacy and International Affairs Management Programme of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in collaboration with the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library at New York, the Library of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) and the UNOG Conference Services.

This interactive tool aims at acquainting users with the collections and services of the UN Libraries and at providing information about the Organization and the use of UN documentary collections and databases. It also seeks to deepen and update the trainees' understanding of the interrelationship between the structure and activities of the UN System and its documentation, and to develop and enhance their skills in the retrieval of information and the effective use of the various reference instruments and modern facilities available at the UN.
