UNITAR is pleased to announce the launch of an e-learning course on Governance in Urban Sanitation (25 May – 17 July 2009). The course goal is to provide participants with analytical tools enhancing their capacity to assess specific situations and make recommendations to design and implement financial and institutional reforms in the sanitation sector. The course is primarily intended for decision-makers from African local governments. It is also open to representatives of service providers (national governments, private sector, NGOs) and international organizations who are involved in the sanitation sector in Africa.
The course will be delivered through an innovative online learning platform based in sound adult learning pedagogical principles including, among others, self-assessment activities, peer-to-peer review and evaluation, and social elements. The whole course is structured in a non-linear way so as to provide learners with a high degree of flexibility in choosing their learning path and pace. All learning activities will be monitored by a tutor with high level of expertise in the sanitation sector.
A French version of the course will be launched during the second semester of 2009.
