Economic benefits of migrant entrepreneurship in Learning Platform on Human Mobility

4 December, 2013, Brussels, Belgium – On 3 and 4 December 2013, participants and experts from around the world gathered in Brussels for the Course on "Fostering Economic Development and Migrant Entrepreneurship" organised in the context of UNITAR's Learning Platform on Human Mobility (LPHM), in partnership with the Government of Flanders.

During a series of presentations and practical exercises with top experts from IOM, UNDP, ACP Observatory, UNITAR, Flanders' Chamber of Commerce, the University of Antwerp and the Hague University of Applied Sciences, participants representing regional, municipal and local governments from Belgium, Ecuador and the Republic of Korea strategised on diaspora engagement; support for migrant entrepreneurs; and the role of the private sector. They exchanged good practices and experiences from their localities and institutions, and developed personal action plans, which UNITAR will monitor and support through its global network of CIFAL Centres.
