About the e-Governance Programme

The e-Governance Programme was initially launched to support local authorities worldwide to develop e-government strategies as a direct follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society.

UNITAR has been providing best practice sharing workshops to local authorities on Digital Local Agenda, which enables participants to assess their current level of competencies in a given topic, identify the priority areas and develop an action plan for the future.  The Digital Local Agenda workshops have been delivered only by face-to-face workshop format, since one of the main objectives of the course was experience and knowledge sharing among the participants via small group discussions, field visits and case study presentations.

In addition to face-to-face workshops on e-government topics, the e-Governance Programme develops partnerships with relevant institutions to provide state-of-the-art content on governance and human development subjects through e-learning technologies and approaches.
