Principle 10 National Profile and Action Plan Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Secretariat for the Environment and Nature Conservation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and UNITAR signed a Memorandum of Agreement concerning the project “Preparation of a National Profile and Action Plan to Implement Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration” in March 2009.
The national project coordinator is Mr. Albert Likunde li Botayi, Secretary General for the Environment and Nature Conservation, with Mr. Guy Stephane Cidibi serving as focal point.
National Planning Workshop
A National Planning Workshop took place on 16 September 2009 in Kinshasa. More than 40 participants from a range of government agencies and stakeholder groups participated in the event. The workshop offered the opportunity for the government and stakeholders to discuss the importance of participatory environmental governance. The event was opened by Mme Thérèse Olenga Kalonda, Minister of Environment of the Province of Kinshasa, who declared that “good environmental governance is becoming of key importance in all sectors.” [read more]
