Principle 10 National Profile and Action Plan Project in El Salvador

The national project coordinator was Mrs. Ana Ella Gomez, Director of Public Participation, with Ms. Sofia Novoa and Mr. Isaac Bonilla, serving as focal points. A National Coordinating Team was established to guide and oversee the project implementation.
 

National Planning Workshop

A National Planning Workshop took place on 7 October 2009 in San Salvador. Some 120 participants from a range of government agencies and stakeholder groups participated in the event. The workshop was opened by the Honorable Lina Pohl, Vice Minister of Environment of El Salvador, who declared that “this project is very important for the Government of El Salvador, as transparency, access to information and public participation are central pillars of the Ministry’s strategy”. The workshop provided the opportunity for the government and non governmental actors to discuss how participatory environmental governance can contribute to avoid conflicts in environmental decision making processes.
