Principle 10 National Profile and Action Plan Project in Nicaragua
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Nicaragua and UNITAR signed a Memorandum of Agreement concerning the project “Preparing a National Profile and Action Plan on the Implementation of Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration” in July of 2009.
The national project coordinator was Mrs. Elisa Marenco Castellon,
Director of Policy and Strategies of the General Planning Department, with Mr. Denis Fuentes and Mrs. Engracia Merlo, serving as focal points. A National Coordinating Team was established to guide and oversee the project implementation.
National Planning Workshop
National Profile Development
Nicaragua's National Profile was completed in September 2010.
National Priority Setting Workshop
A National Priority Setting Workshop on Principle 10 implementation was scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2010.
National Action Plan
A National Action Plan on Principle 10 implementation was completed in September 2010.
Targeted Capacity Development Action
Taking into account the priorities and capacity needs identified through the National Action Plan, UNITAR is exploring opportunities to support selected capacity development activities.
