11 July 2016, New York, United States of America: The 2016 meeting of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) opened today at UN Headquarters in New York. The HLPF is the central platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Alongside the HLPF, UNITAR is working with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) to host a series of HLPF Learning, Training and Practice sessions to provide opportunity for delegates to strengthen their knowledge, skills and capacities in key areas related to the implementation of the SDGs.
The HLPF Learning, Training and Practice sessions were officially opened this afternoon by Mr. Marco Suazo, Acting Head of UNITAR Office in New York and Mr. Juwang Zhu, Director of the Division for Sustainable Development UN DESA.
