26 July 2012, Bangkok, Thailand – On 9 and 10 August, at the request of the Government of Thailand, two UNITAR programmes will jointly deliver a “Training on negotiation skills on chemicals management”.  The Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) and the Chemicals and Waste Management Programme (CWM) are joining forces to provide training with the objectives to:

• familiarise the participants with the fundamentals of negotiations and equip them with general knowledge of negotiation strategies and techniques;
• strengthen and enhance their negotiation skills in multilateral conference settings; and
• prepare participants with a view to the third session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM-3) in Nairobi, 17-21 September 2012, in the context of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).
 
The training will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and will involve the various government officials who are going to attend ICCM-3.
