social media icons13 November 2015, Geneva, Switzerland - Today the “Innovative Collaboration for Development” Fall 2015 session ended, closing this year's sessions of the e-Learning course. In 2015, close to 100 participants coming from 44 countries, of which 36 are developing and Least Developed Countries were trained on the use of social media in a development context.

Throughout the year, three nine-week long online sessions were carried out in English, and one in French.

The course “Innovative Collaboration for Development”, which is the fruit of a partnership between UNITAR, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Information Management Resource Kit (IMark) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), aims to empower development professionals to recognize the potential of social media and to make innovative use of these tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their work. ICfD gives participants the opportunity to use and analyze social media tools in light of their adaptability to specific workplace contexts.

"[Now that I’ve finished the course] I’m working on a proposal where I will be discussing with my management about how we can apply some of 2.0 web tools in helping staff to better perform their duties plus for the promotion and information to outsiders about the organization”

- Bernadette Gill, Sechelles, Spring session.
