Positive developments in the relations with a partner often depend on the successfulness of meetings and negotiations. Such encounters can be hindered by poor management, misunderstandings or distrust. Enhancing the facilitation skills of Global Fund staff members increases the chances of an effective meeting and a successful outcome, while also saving time and resources.

Event Objectives

This Module aims to provide participants with tools to facilitate successful and effective meetings and workshops. With a focus on practical and interactive exercises, the training workshop will allow participants to identify their own strengths and weaknesses as facilitators, and build on current and new skills and capacities.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the Module, participants should be able to:
  • Explain the essential principles of facilitation;
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings with greater confidence;
  • Identify personal strengths and weaknesses as facilitators;
  • Recount strategies for managing dominant or challenging participants when facilitating meetings and workshops.

  Sound instructional design aligned with practical and tangible relevance to the Global Fund will be applied in this Module. The training is designed to be highly interactive and participatory, and will include a variety of simulation exercises and pedagogical tools to enable the participants to acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of the topic at hand.

For that reason, 15 participants per training workshop is a maximum.

Targeted Audience

 The Module is targeting the staff of the Global Fund based in Geneva and has been offered to all Global fund staff. The Global Fund Human Resources Department have selected the final group of participants.
