Objectifs d'apprentissage

·         Define a GIS and how and why we use it

·         Explain the benefits and limitations of using satellite images for impact analysis and damage assessment

·         Extract and critically assess information contained within a map

·         Outline GIS methodologies to perform impact analysis and preliminary damage assessment and associated challenges.

·         Gather and assess relevant spatial data from the web for emergency response mapping

February 11

Session 1:

·         8:30-8:45:      Introduction to the Week

·         8:45-9:45:      Participant introduction and discussion

·         9:45-10:30:    Needs assessment exercise and coffee break

·         10:30-11:15:  Presentation of needs assessment scenarios

Session 2:                

·         11:15-12:00   Light Introduction to GIS and Remote Sensing

Session 3:                

·         13:30-15:00   The use of satellite imagery for emergency response mapping

Session 4:                

·         15:15-17:00   What is a map? Map reading exercise

 

February 12

Session 1:                

·         8:30-10:15     Impact analysis and damage assessment using GIS (context and        case example)

Session 2:

·         10:30-12:00   Gathering geo-spatial data from the web
