UNITAR Executive Director, Mr. Carlos Lopes was recently appointed the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UNECA.

In this interview in Portuguese with UN Radio, Mr. Lopes speaks about the place of reflection on strategies for development and production of ideas in the leadership of one of five UN regional economic commissions.  Among the bets on the highest post of the UN in Africa, Mr. Lopes refers to cooperation between the Portuguese-speaking African countries, which highlights the need for greater understanding between Brazil and Africa.
