First Climate Change Diplomacy Training for Diplomats at UN Headquarters

New York, 29 April 2009

At the UN in New York, UNITAR and the Olof Palme Memorial Fund organize today and tomorrow the first workshop of its kind on environmental negotiations and climate change diplomacy. The workshop takes place at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, and will be facilitated by Professor William Moomaw from Tufts University.

As the first advanced level workshop in UNITAR’s 2009 Negotiation Training Series, this workshop is designed to equip delegates, particularly from developing countries and least developed countries, with the skills and knowledge to perform efficiently in negotiations related to environmental sustainability and climate change in United Nations conferences and meetings. Through interactive presentations and simulation exercises on forestry negotiations and climate change, participants will refine their understanding of the complex issues at hand, as well as strengthen their negotiation skills.
