Gender, Governance and Economic Empowerment in the Americas
4th Forum of the Global Leadership Initiative on Gender Equality in Cities (2006-2009)
Atlanta, U.S.A. from November 20 to 21, 2008 – CIFAL Atlanta (International Training Centre for Local Authorities/Actors) is organizing a workshop on the Gender Governance and Economic Empowerment in the Americas forum from 20 to 21 of November. This is the 3rd annual forum that CIFAL Atlanta organizes and the 4th workshop globally, as one workshop was organized in CIFAL Durban in August.
As part of the Global Leadership Initiative on Gender Equality, this forum will look to "promote gender equality and empower women," one of eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) enacted by the United Nations.
Utilizing UNITAR's unique Knowledge Management methodology called CityShare, each city delegation will complete the self-assessment survey prior to the Forum in an effort to measure their level of gender equality competency. This process facilitates best practice sharing as it assists in identifying potential "learners" and "sharers" for each best practice area and aids CIFAL Atlanta in pairing delegates for maximum knowledge exchange.
