Singapore Tembusu College at National University of Singapore

- Students at the National University of Singapore (NUS) engage with Green Legacy Hiroshima
Spearheaded by Tembusu College and the Singapore Botanical Garden (SBG), the year-long project will have students working closely with SBG to plant the Hiroshima camphor seeds, care for saplings and perform general nursery work every month. Once saplings are strong enough, students will look for the best planting locations. They will research the suitability of sites, negotiate with the relevant authorities, and engage with other students on the project. In the long term, the project could be turned into a research paper, photography book, website, etc. and touch upon numerous issue related to the Green Legacy Project (e.g. community activism and negotiation, impact of nuclear technology on nature and/or communities, the role of symbols in engaging communities, etc.).
There are two other camphor trees in the SBG -- the original one having been planted by then prime minister Yasuhiro Nakasone in 1983.
