Prof. Uye has just visited the University of Ljubjana, visited the saplings and had a meeting with the rector of the University regarding a planting ceremony next year around the Hiroshima saplings. He reports that Saplings of‘ginkgo and Chinese hackberry are growing in good shape, ca. 30-50 cm tall, but jujube's seeds have not germinated yet`. Also on July 23 Japanese hackberry were transplanted - now the garden has 12 small plants of Ginkgo and 18 plants of Japanese hackberry.
In Ljubljana it has been an extremely hot summer, with temperatures near 40 degrees on certain days. The garden staff watered the plants daily and made shadows for the more small and delicate ones.
