Mihoko Kumamoto, new Head of the UNITAR Hiroshima Office visits the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amine Fatimie, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Japan welcomed Ms. Kumamoto, as the new Head of the UNITAR Hiroshima Office, to the Afghan Embassy in Tokyo along with Mr. Brandon Turner, the outgoing Officer-in-Charge (OIC). Dr. Fatimie took the opportunity to express his appreciation for Mr. Turner's leadership and contribution during his tenure as OIC to promote quality training, and to broaden the scope of capacity building programmes undertaken by UNITAR in Afghanistan. Mr. Turner was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his dedication.
Ms. Kumamoto and Dr. Fatimie discussed bilateral cooperation between the UNITAR Hiroshima Office and the Afghan Embassy to date and pledged future cooperation. Dr. Fatimie showed strong willingness to provide support in expanding UNITARs portfolio of programmes in Afghanistan. Dr. Fatimie also acknowledged UNITAR’s signature Programme, the UNITAR Fellowship for Afghanistans contributions in promoting the socio-economic development of the country. He expressed his sincere appreciation and pledged to deepen ties with Ms. Kumamoto.
