Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center (HPC) and Training of Professional Civilian Peacebuilders
The Pilot Program for Human Resource Development in Asia for Peacebuilding is an initiative of the Government of Japan to enhance the capacity of professionals in Asia in responding to growing global needs for civilian personnel in peacebuilding operations. The "Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center" is established by Hiroshima University to implement the program in cooperation with other partner organizations.

The program consists of 6-weeks of  coursework in Japan with prominent international professionals and a 5-month overseas On-the-Job Training Program in international organizations or NGOs engaged in peacebuilding. Networking among practitioners as well as academics in the field of peacebuilding is also promoted as part of the mandates of the program.
