Dialogue with United
Nations Foundation Board Members
"Message of
Hiroshima for Today’s World"
Organizers:
UN Foundation, Hiroshima University and
UNITAR Hiroshima Office for Asia and the Pacific
The
United Nations (UN) Foundation Board visited Hiroshima on Saturday
28 October 2006. In this context,
the UN Foundation,
Hiroshima University and the United Nations Institute for
Training and Research (UNITAR) Hiroshima Office,
in close
partnership with
the Japan Center for International Exchange
(JCIE), organized a roundtable on
the theme of "The message
of Hiroshima for today's world" at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial
Museum.
During
this roundtable,
panelists
and guests
reflected upon the lessons and experiences of Hiroshima and
their practical and symbolic significance for the United Nations and
the world, especially in these times of rising nuclear and other
security threats. The roundtable, which also marked UN Day,
started an exchange of ideas between the UN Foundation Board
members and representatives of Hiroshima’s scientific, academic,
political, media and other governmental and non-governmental sectors.
The UN Foundation is
