UNITAR Hiroshima Public Sessions: International Assistance towards Iraqi post-conflict Reconstruction
With the hostilities in Iraq coming to an end, the focus of the international community necessarilly turns to the reconstruction of the nation. The experiences of Hiroshima in post-conflict reconstruction after the Second World War serve as a reference point for those looking to achieve comprehensive and unified rebuilding in Iraq. The new face of international assistance and the vision that will guide this new period were analysed at a joint event entitled UNITAR Public Session - 29th HiPeC Seminar, held in collaboration with Hiroshima University's HiPeC. To assist in addressing this topic, UNITAR and Hiroshima University were honoured to have the participation of His Excellency Lukman Faily, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Japan, who visited Hiroshima on 8 December.
