H.S.H. Prince Albert II, UNITAR Executive Director celebrate with the ScenaRio organizers, partners and participants the unveiling of survey results
19 June 2012, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Together with the organizers, partners and participants of the ScenaRio survey, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, and UNITAR Executive Director Carlos Lopes celebrated the upcoming unveiling of results on the occasion of a special cocktail reception. The reception has also been attended by Joan Clos, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). This was the UNITAR-sponsored event in Rio de Janeiro after the UNITAR-IBM workshop that Mr. Clos attended showing strong partnership. The results of the survey carried out with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Veolia Environement and many other partners, will be unveiled by the organizer, Nomadeis Consulting, today, on 20 June, in Room 8, Pavilion T of the Riocentro Convention Center.
The ScenaRio 2012 initiative included a global survey by Nomadeis Consulting and Fondapol on youth and sustainable development. 30,000 young people were surveyed in 30 countries on their choices, aspirations, fears, perceptions and values in regards to sustainable development. In parallel, 100 high-level personalities were interviewed on issues pertaining to the environment, development and governance. The ScenaRio 2012 also served as a platform for these personalities to share their messages with global youth. The representatives of youth and interviewed experts will share their perspectives, together with the private sector partners at today’s side event.
The ScenaRio 2012 is complementary to two other initiatives targeting youth and supported by UNITAR - the Green Dreams campaign, led by the CIFAL Network and the Future We Want campaign launched by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and UNCSD Secretary-General Sha Zukang. Green Dreams and the Future We Want are both showcased at RioCentro from 13-22 June 2012. The three initiatives also presented their results on 19 June in a seminar organized in the framework of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (FINEP) and the National Confederation of Industry’s (CNI) exhibition on “Innovation for Sustainable Development” at Mauá Piers.
