Human Rights Reporting Activity in Suriname Successfully Concluded
From 8 to 12 December, 32 participants from 13 Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) took part in the regional training activity on Human Rights Reporting in Paramaribo, Republic of Suriname.
This professional capacity-building seminar aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge of international human rights instruments and improving their reporting skills in order to facilitate a more effective and efficient reporting according to the major international human rights treaties and the Universal Periodic Review mechanism. Furthermore, it sought to provide a platform for communication and sharing the reporting experience of States in the region.
This tailor-made course was organized by UNITAR in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and Police of the Republic of Suriname, the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Suriname and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), with the support from the Government of Turkey.
