UNITAR’s International Law Programme (ILP) has over 40 years of experience in the delivery of training in the field of international law. To better respond to numerous requests for innovative training, ILP is complementing its face-to-face training activities with internet-based courses. Thus, since 2006, ILP has been successfully delivering e-learning courses through its Virtual Learning Environment.
The e-courses provide a thorough understanding of current and increasingly relevant topics in International Law. They are especially designed to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of the given subject matter.
Course contents are prepared by experts and professors of international law who also moderate them. The course moderators closely guide participants in their learning process and answer their queries. In addition, ILP staff provide technical support regarding how to use the learning tools available on UNITAR’s Virtual Learning Environment. In order to assure interactive exchange as well as provide participants with personalized learning support, the number of participants per moderator does not exceed 30 students.
Furthermore, the learning methodology used to deliver the e-courses allows participants the flexibility to combine their learning activities with work responsibilities and benefits from high-quality training. Thus, proposed learning activities are based on sound adult learning pedagogical principles, they include among others, discussions forums, online-self assessments, case studies, written reports, etc.
Participants in the e-courses on International Law need basic computer skills such as logging into websites, navigating the Internet, using Microsoft Word, uploading/downloading documents, and of course a reliable Internet connection.
In order to follow the courses properly minimum technical requirements are needed (nearly all computers fit these):
