technology for learningUNITAR sees learning as a process that can be facilitated with a wide-range of methodologies and approaches, including the optimized utilization of information communication technologies. In line with the Plan of Action of the World Summit on Information Society, the Institute is broadening the scope of its training activities to take full advantage of the potentialities created by information communication technologies, facilitating access to training and learning offers and expanding opportunities for continuous professional development.

In 2010 UNITAR launched its new virtual learning environment. The Institute currently utilizes the Moodle platform to deliver its online activities. Moodle’s constructivist learning approach aligns with the methodologies utilized by UNITAR, responding to specific needs in terms of design and implementation, including collaborative and interactive features, which are widely utilized in a number of courses offered by the Institute.
