Four corners of the world gathered in Antwerp for the first course of UNITAR’s Learning Platform on Human Mobility

On 15-16 May 2013, Antwerp, Belgium - the international course of the Learning Platform on Human Mobility (LPHM) entitled “Addressing public perceptions of migrants, mastering communication strategies and partnering with the media” took place in Antwerp, Belgium. This course is part of a series of learning opportunities resulting from an ambitious partnership between the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Flemish Government, in collaboration with the City of Antwerp.

Executive Master's Degree Programme officially launched in Kabul, Afghanistan

15 April 2013, Kabul, Afghanistan - In a ceremony attended by Afghanistan’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, twenty senior and mid-level civil servants from the Ministry of Finance were inducted into the inaugural Executive Master's Degree Programme in Development Policies and Practices in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance in Kabul on Sunday, April 15.

New CIFAL Merida Inaugurated with First Training on Hurricanes and Disaster Risk Management

April 2013, Merida, Mexico - UNITAR and the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) Mexico, and Airports Council International inaugurated a new training centre to develop regional training programmes on Disaster Management and Airports. From 19-22 March 2013, a group of experts gathered in the city of Merida, Mexico, to inaugurate the new CIFAL Merida.

CIFAL Merida launches with Training on Disaster Risk Reduction and Airports

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and CIFAL Merida have partnered with the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) Mexico, and Airports Council International to develop a pilot training programme on Disaster Management and Airports. A group of experts will gather in the city of Merida, Mexico from 19 to 22 March 2013 to share experiences and good practices on how to implement disaster preparedness and how to deal with the aftermath of hurricanes.

UNITAR & FIEP renew CIFAL Curitiba partnership for training on local development

Responsible for developing training programs and promote technical cooperation contributing to local development, CIFAL Curitiba was established in Latin America's greenest city. In November 2009, when the first agreement was signed between UNITAR and SESI, the centre was relocated and housed in FIEP - the Federation of Industries of Parana State. The new partnership agreement signed on Friday renewed the cooperation between the two entities for the period between 2013 and 2016.
