UNITAR implements this week two training activities for African diplomats accredited to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Some fifty participants - diplomats, ranging from Attaché to Ambassador, representing 28 different Member States and staff members from the African Union Commission - are taking part in the training activities that will be delivered in French and English language. Both training activities are designed to assist participants to improve their knowledge and skills on mediation. Similar to other skills development UNITAR workshops, the courses include role plays, simulation exercises and video analysis. The South African Diplomatic Academy and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie partnered with UNITAR for six diplomacy training programmes in Addis Ababa, in 2009.
