Hiroshima, Japan, 22 November 2012: The UNITAR Hiroshima office is proud to be hosting 35 representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan at a week long capacity-development workshop examining Public Financial Management.

The session, entitled the UNITAR - Mustofi Training Programme on Public Financial Management, is the second iteration of a successful programme held earlier in 2012. Including peer-exchange study visits to the National Tax and Financial Authorities, as well as the Prefectural Tax and Financial Authorities, and the Hiroshima Regional Customs Office, the programme examines the post-conflict reconstruction of Hiroshima, and Japan, from the perspective of Public Finance. Accountability, Transparency and Anti-corruption techniques will be outlined, along with Budget Planning and Revenue Management case studies being covered with the participants, who hail predominantly from Afghansitan's provinces.

UNITAR would like to express its gratitude to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Omar Zakhilwal and in particular to Mr. Musa Kamawi, Human Resources Director at the Ministry of Finance and UNITAR trainer, for their commitment and support to the programme.
