UNITAR Signs Partnership Agreement with Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University

HMSU agreement7 October 2018, Dubai, UAE – UNITAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University (HMSU), represented by his Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai and Chairman of HBMSU’s Board of Governors (BOG). As the only accredited e-learning university by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, HMSU constitute a partner of excellence for UNITAR.

The Memorandum of Understanding is the starting point to a long-term collaboration. It will pave the way to building a cooperative framework within which multiple activities will be implemented. UNITAR and HMSU agreed to implement high quality trainings, workshops, e-learning courses and study visits in Geneva, New York and Vienna. In accordance with its mission to develop individual, institutional and organisational diplomatic capacities, UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Programme will support the implementation of a Postgraduate Professional Diploma program under the title “Designing Future International Leaders”. This programme is of particular importance for HMSU as it is designed  to “equip future leaders with insights and visions in the global, social, diplomatic and economic affairs in the modern world”, in His Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim’s own words. The programme will start on in December 2018 in Dubai Academic City with a course on Strategic Future leaders. Successful participants will be awarded in May 2019.

UNITAR is looking forward to starting this partnership and engage in further activities in collaboration with HMSU. UNITAR hope that the exchange of professional expertise we are building will be fruitful for the future.
