15-16 August 2019, Nairobi, Kenya - As part of our three-year Memorandum of Understanding between UNITAR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, UNITAR’s Division for Multilateral Diplomacy held a workshop on Effective Writing and Multilateral Diplomacy in Nairobi, Kenya. It was designed to help participants learn basic and advanced writing and analytical skills for multilateral diplomacy; discover different forms and styles of diplomatic writing and reporting; and learn how to write Official and Diplomatic Correspondence in multilateral diplomacy.

The workshop was attended by 19 participants, including diplomats, delegates from the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Kenya and government officials.

It was facilitated by H. E. Mr. Lars Tillfors, a diplomat with a long experience of International Relations and Development Cooperation, United Nations diplomacy, external relations, interagency affairs and the running of governing bodies. Mr. Tillfors is proficient in running of international/intergovernmental meetings and experienced in interagency affairs as well as managing contacts with Missions and Member States delegates before, during and after meetings.

As a result of discussions and a number of practical exercises, all the participants agreed that their awareness of the subject matter had increased and that they were likely to use the information they had learned in their function.

It was a great pleasure in holding the workshop within the framework of the three years Memorandum of Understanding between UNITAR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, and looks forward to strengthening our long-standing cooperation.
