UNITAR

3-4 September 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - As part of the agreement between the Foundation Antonio Meneghetti and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), UNITAR’s Division for Multilateral Diplomacy successfully held two workshops on Public Speaking and Leadership Skills in Geneva, Switzerland. In keeping with its vision of providing the highest quality of training not only for mid-career professionals, but also for the younger generation, the workshops were held on 3rd and 4th of September 2019, with a total of 50 students in attendance.

After a successful completion of a four-week e-learning course on Multilateral Diplomacy, the students affiliated to the Foundation Antonio Meneghetti were offered to attend either of the two suggested face-to-face workshops – on Leadership Skills or Public Speaking Skills –  in accordance to their preference. The main objectives of the workshop on Leadership Skills were to grant participants an opportunity for self-analysis and reflection, provide a chance to recognize their personal leadership strengths, and allow participants to build skills in communication, decision-making, personal impact and recognition of personal achievement in professional contexts. On the other hand, the workshop on Public Speaking Skills focused on helping students to prepare presentations effectively, analyze and understand their audiences to adapt their message, as well as instructing them on how to create memorable messages and write and deliver short opening speeches.

UNITAR strongly believes that high quality training and education of young people are crucial not only for their personal economic prospects and career opportunities, but also for overall economic and social development of the states of their residence. Therefore, by providing innovative and analytical capacity-building solutions, UNITAR remains at the forefront of training of young individuals, to ensure they have all the skills necessary to succeed in their prospective career. In this light, empowering young people around the world, who shape the future of the nations, remains one of the top priorities of UNITAR.

We had a great pleasure in working with the members of the Foundation Antonio Meneghetti and looks forward to further similar collaborations.
