11 September 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - On Friday 18th September 2020, UN CC:Learn will celebrate the issuance of its 100,000th certificate of course completion–a remarkable milestone in its mission to improve climate literacy around the world.

Climate change education is a key multiplier for climate action. It provides the base of a pyramid through which knowledge and understanding is converted into the changes in attitudes, behaviours, policies, and finally the vital investments needed to bring the climate threat under control.

The 100,000th certificate is a particularly momentous milestone for UN CC:Learn and for the fight to tackle climate change. Each certificate issued represents another voice added to the climate cause–all now with greater knowledge, understanding, and motivation to take action.

Importantly, behind each of these voices, there is a story of change and action. With the aim of capturing these stories and translating them into 100,000 climate actions, UN CC:Learn will be launching a challenge to all of its alumni as a way of celebrating this collective achievement.

The full details of this challenge will be unveiled only on the day, so check back in at 3.00pm CET on Friday 18th September to take part (links are provided below). If you are not a member already, join the UN CC:Learn community now and add your story to the cause.

Tune in on Friday 18th September 2020 at 3.00pm CET and join the celebrations.

About UN CC:Learn

The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) was set up in 2010 as a collaborative initiative engaging more than 30 UN entities with the aim of building global climate change literacy and helping countries to design and implement systematic and recurrent climate change learning strategies. In 2014 UN CC:Learn launched a free online learning platform (www.unccelearn.org) which has become a leading global resource and one-stop-shop for UN derived climate change and green economy learning content. UN CC:Learn is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Government of France and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The development of high-quality e-learning resources plays an increasingly significant role in climate change education across the world. Today, UN CC:Learn offers 30 free, online courses on a wide range of topics related to climate change and green economy. Designed in various formats and with courses available in all UN languages, the courses have established UN CC:Learn as a market leader working to improve climate literacy at the global and local levels.
