Panel discussion on the occasion of the International Migrants Day in New York; In observance of the 20th anniversary of the ICRMW

The UNITAR New York Office on the occasion of the 11th International Migrants Day is pleased to announce the panel in observance of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the ICRMW, jointly organized with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) the MacArthur Foundation and in cooperation with the UN-NGO Committee on Migration. The half-day panel, part of the 2010 Migration and Development Seminar Series, will be held on 17 December 2010, from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
In light of the adoption of the ICRMW, this panel will inform the diplomatic community and other relevant stakeholders of the New York audience on the significance of the Convention, its implications for ratifying countries and its impact on the lives of million of migrants and their families. The panel will also be an occasion to analyze the importance of the protection of human rights of migrants in the context of the linkages between migration and development.
