Objective:
Set in the context of the 54th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held from 1 to 12 March 2010, with a view to the 2010 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) of the Economic and Social Council held in New York in the last week of June on the topic of gender equality and the empowerment of women, this side event aimed at raising awareness about the relevance of international migration to these discussions and to enhance participants’ understanding of female migration patterns, and the rights, protection needs and development contributions of women migrants.
