Migration, brain drain, and caregiving

This panel focused on the interlinkages of brain drain, HIV/AIDS, and the crisis of health care systems, in particular in sub-Saharan Africa. The discussion was designed to examine different policy responses to brain drain and HIV/AIDS. Guiding questions addressed how policies can be shaped so as to (1) ensure the right to health in both developed and developing countries, and (2) support the achievement of MDG 6 with regards to the combat of HIV/AIDS. Special emphasis will be put on how HIV/AIDS, brain drain and the health care crisis impact men and women differently.
