Special briefings on the work of the Main Committees of the General Assembly

Objective
The main objective of the special briefings, which are complementary to the general briefing for new delegates on the work of the General Assembly, is to enable representatives to familiarize themselves with the work and procedures of three of the Main Committees of the General Assembly.
Organization
Participants will be provided with an overview of the work of the Second, Third and Fifth Committees and of the major issues before them.
Participants
The briefings are primarily designed for those delegates who are attending meetings of the Second, Third and Fifth Committees for the first time. The registered candidates are requested to regard their participation as a firm commitment.
Resource persons
The briefings will be conducted by Mr. Jean Gazarian, UNITAR Senior Fellow. Presentations will be made by experienced diplomats and by members of the United Nations Secretariat.
Working languages
Interpretation will be provided, to the extent possible, in the official languages of the General Assembly.
