OHCHR/UNITAR Human Rights Orientation Programme for Diplomats in Geneva - Register Now!

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) are pleased to announce that the next edition of the Human Rights Orientation Programme for Diplomats will be held on 1 & 2 September 2014 in Geneva.

The two-day orientation programme is aimed at enhancing the participants' knowledge and understanding of human rights and the international human rights protection system and will cover discussion topics including the historical overview of the international human rights normative framework as well as mainstreaming human rights in development, humanitarian action and peace operations. Participants will be introduced to OHCHR's mandate and activities, human rights principles in the work of the United Nations, and the structure and functioning of the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review, Special Procedures and the human rights treaty bodies. By the end of the programme, participants will be able to more comprehensively and effectively integrate human rights into their work and/or perform their human rights-related functions.
