Online courses address global challenges in Public Finance and Trade

Global Challenges in Public Finance and TradeJanuary 2012, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR’s Public Finance and Trade Programme has made their upcoming online course calendar for 2012 aimed at addressing the current challenges faced by finance and trade officials in the globalized economy available.

The courses are moderated by senior international experts with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the complex issues being addressed by each of the courses. Participants are given the opportunity to share their individual experiences and practices, interact, exchange ideas, and engage in discussion with the course mentors as well as their fellow participants. The self-learning feature of the courses allows the participants to fit their study around their schedule and learn from the comfort of their computers whilst still achieving quality training.

The financial crisis has brought to the fore a number of pertinent issues which are covered by the Programme. Relevant topics include Financial Globalization, Global Financial Governance, Fundamentals of Risk Management, and many more. Such courses have benefitted thousands middle and senior-level officials from Central Banks, Finance Ministries, Securities and Exchange Commissions, and other finance and trade professionals from international, regional, government, private sector, academic, and civil society organizations from around the world.

In addition, the Programme will also roll-out new courses in 2012 such as: Ethics in Public Finance, Principles of Central Bank Reserve Management, and Public Funds and their Auditing.

A number of online courses are conducted in collaboration with the Programme’s partner institutions and organizations in order to provide greater accessibility, reduce costs per participant, and increase effectiveness. Select courses are also available in French and Spanish.

Since 2003, the Programme has delivered more than 270 online courses benefitting over 12,000 finance and trade officials from over 140 countries around the world.
