PEACEMAKING AND CONFLICT PREVENTION

The Peacemaking and Conflict Prevention (PMCP) Programme addresses a strategic need within the UN System to deliver innovative training in negotiation and mediation, and to share the latest knowledge, tools and experience for the prevention and resolution of conflict. Intensive training programmes are organized for mid and senior level officials within Member States, regional organizations and the United Nations, and for the representatives of indigenous peoples.

November 2011, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - The tenth regional training programme to enhance conflict prevention and peacemaking in Africa concluded in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in early November. The group of forty-one participants, the largest ever, consisted of mid to senior level officials of African Ministries of Foreign Affairs, as well as other key government departments, such as the Office of the President or Prime Minister. November 2011, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – UNDP and UNITAR co-organized the High-Level Seminar on Preventive Approaches in the African Peace and Security Architecture held on 3 November 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. APSA, expecting its tenth anniversary in 2012, incorporates the latest principles of international peace and security.
