The goal of this course is to analyze the contributions and challenges women face at all levels in post-conflict reconstruction and national development. The course explores the complex relationship between gender and leadership in post-conflict environments. It focuses on the role of women in conflict situations, peace processes and post-conflict environments, and highlights the impact of their contribution to global peace and development.

Natural resource management in post conflict countries | on-line (English) | moderated
The goal of the course is to provide an overview of the role natural resources play in conflict environments, illustrating both positive and negative situations where natural resources have an impact on a conflict and - conversely - how the environment is impacted by conflict. The course also explores the different methods for using natural resources as entry points for building peace and strengthening governance, before giving an overview of how natural resources can be integrated into community recovery programmes. Finally, it looks at the technologies, practices and habits that can be implemented to ensure that peacekeeping missions have a minimal impact on the local environment.

The course explores traditional and alternative techniques in conflict resolution with a narrow focus on activities which directly aim at resolving international conflicts through communication. The course explores existing conflict and conflict resolution theories, methods and practices relevant for the resolution of conflicts in which United Nations peace operations are deployed.
