Interview with Sally Fegan-Wyles
In September 2012, Ms. Sally Fegan-Wyles of Ireland was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Director ad interim of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. Her mandates are to lead and support the work of UNITAR, and, support the Secretary-General's initiative to consolidate seven existing UN entities for training, research and knowledge sharing.
In this video interview, she talks about her most memorable and most challenging moments in her long UN career, her mandates at UNITAR and her advice to young female professionals to be successful in the UN.

Increase in Female Participation in Afghanistan Fellowship Programme
UNITAR has been conducting the Afghanistan Fellowship Programme since 2004, aiming at enhancing the leadership, management and professional skills of a core group of senior government officials primarily from Afghanistan. Seeing a rise in female participation from an average of 10% in the first 6 years of the programme to 18% in 2011 is a significant improvement given the status of women in that country.
