UNDP-UNITAR Conference on Emerging Partners and Africa: Key Trade and Investment Issues

This high-level conference is a joint United Nations Development Programme – Regional Bureau for Africa (UNDP RBA) / United Nations Institute for Training and Research initiative (UNITAR). The UNDP RBA/UNITAR Conference on ‘Emerging Partners and Africa : Key Trade and Investment Issues’ (Dakar - Senegal, 13-14 December 2011) aims at offering an exclusive platform for policy makers, business leaders and senior academics from Sub-Saharan Africa and from emerging economic powers to dialogue, to network and to explore innovative approaches to trade and investment negotiations. It also provides a mechanism to channel innovative thinking in these areas into policy making at the national, regional and multilateral level. This conference will build upon and fit in the work and current initiatives of the UNDP RBA and other international and regional organizations in the context of Africa and its involvement with emerging partners.
The conference is unique in that it will bring together a select group of prominent experts, senior public and private sector officials, and policy makers from Africa and from emerging economies, and will combine plenary sessions with highly interactive thematic sessions. Delegates will have numerous opportunities to dialogue and to engage in discussions on trade and investment issues with authoritative speakers and with their peers. African policy makers, economists and other stakeholders with have an opportunity to dialogue and discuss with prominent international and emerging economy thinkers and opinion makers.
