The Fleet Forum Annual Conference will be held in Geneva, Switzerland on 23-25 March 2011. Entitled “Technology in Fleet Management” the conference aims to bring together professionals from more than 40 international organisations to discuss and tackle key issues facing transport operators in low and middle income countries as they strive to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
The 2011 event, which is already fully booked at this time, will be hosted by UNITAR’S Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) and will focus on the latest technologies and how they affect fleet and senior managers when operating in challenging and unstable environments. By addressing the core issues and developments in the area of safety, the environment and technology, the conference aims to ensure that attendees will leave the event with valuable knowledge and tools that will help them to improve their operations.
The Conference will include a workshop on HumaNav, the fleet tracking system developed by UNOSAT and Novacom of France with support from the French Space Agency CNES. Following a successful piloting phase in 2010 in cooperation with ICRC, WHO and UNHCR, the service is being rolled out for wider distribution. The advantages and key features of the service will be illustrated and discussed at the workshop in Geneva on 25 March 2011.
